PRR 5411, K-4S, 1937 |
Description: |
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Morris Park, New York, on 24 July 1937. In the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5411, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during February of 1927 and retired in February of 1955. In this context, it's serving on the Long Island Rail Road. Lima S-160 |
Description: |
This steam engine was one of the last 2-8-0s built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1945. It was built for the army and originally numbered 5187 in WWII, then renumbered 607 in 1952. Known to the army as the S160 series engine many were sent to Europe in the months proceeding Normandy, in which they were called the S160 class by British Railways. In May 1972 the 607 arrived at the museum under its own power; however a lot of internal work must be done to get it running now. |
